Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Members of the Mocksville Garden Club learned how to make arrangements with live materials at their Nov. 7 meeting.

Judy Rosser, president, opened the meeting and gave the inspiration, reading a story about priorities in lawns and homes.

The program was presented by Dahlia’s Florist in Clemmons. It was about floral arranging and the many variations using live materials. They gave everyone a gift, and one person received an arrangement.

Refreshments were served by Chinera Latham and Hillary Hagelstein. Hillary served pink iced cookies and announced that she and her husband were expecting a baby girl and future gardener.

The business meeting followed. A care package basket was passed around for the last scholarship winner, Taylor Bare. Plans were completed for the Christmas greenery sale. A wreath making date was planned at Jean Harpe’s home.

There were five guests. Three chose to join the club.

The Christmas party was Dec. 5. Appetizers were offered before the catered meal of rubbed roast beef, herb roasted chicken and side dishes. Entertainment was by Lou Roloff, who filled the room with Christmas music on the piano.

After dinner, four members of the Davie High band – Hannah Gallimore, Aubrey Lucas, McKenzie Bergman and Alyssa Jones –  provided Christmas music on the clarinet.

A silent auction was held, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund.

The next meeting will be Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. in the First Methodist Fellowship Hall on Church St. The program will be by Laura Mathis of Herbal Accents on remedies, tinctures and teas. Guests are welcome. To learn more, call Judy Rosser at 336-751-5801.
