Summer Food Bags Program

Mocksville First Presbyterian Church, South Main Street, downtown,  will host a community breakfast from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, March 12 benefiting Summer Food Bags, a program for feeding children when school is out.

The menu will include country ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, cooked apples, grits, milk gravy, biscuits and beverages.

Poor Man’s Supper

Tuesday At Fulton

Fulton United Methodist Church, 3689 NC 801 S., Advance, will hold a poor man’s supper from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15.

The menu includes pintos, stewed potatoes, chicken dumplings, baked apples, slaw, cornbread, homemade desserts and drinks. Donations will be accepted, with a portion of proceeds going to missions.

St. John Celebrating

12 Tribes Of Israel

St. John AME Zion Church, 145 Campbell Road, Mocksville, will celebrate their annual 12 Tribes of Israel Rally on Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m. Donations will be accepted. The Rev. Tamica L. Robinson is pastor.

Family & Friends Day

Sunday At Mount Sinai

Family & Friends Day at Mount Sinai AME Zion Church, 488 Peoples Creek Road, Advance, will be on Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Henrico White, pastor of Weeping Willow AME Zion Church in Charlotte, and his congregation, will be special guests.

The program is being sponsored by the Class Leaders. Eva Anderson is program chair. The Rev. Bobby Smith is pastor. Lunch will be at 1:30. Visitors are welcome.

Pancake Supper Saturday

At Community Center

New Union United Methodist Church will hold a pancake supper fundraiser Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sheffield-Calahaln Community Center. It will consist of pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, apples and beverages.  Donations will be accepted.  Proceeds will go toward the July mission trip.  The center is at 174 Turkeyfoot Road, just off Sheffield Road, Mocksville.

At Hardison Methodist Church

Hardison United Methodist Church, 1630 Jericho Church Road, Mocksville, will host a poor man’s supper from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10. Donations will be accepted for the meal, which will include pintos, stewed potatoes, cabbage, cornbread, bread and desserts.

Celebrating Anniversary

Mainville AME Zion Church on Main Church Road near Mocksville will celebrate its 138th church anniversary at 3 p.m. on Sunday, as well as the “mortgage burning.”

The speaker will be presiding elder, the Rev. Dr. Calvin L. Miller. Lunch will be at 1:30 p.m.

“With the help of our trustee and steward board, our members and donors, they have made this a victorious day,” said the pastor, the Rev. Sylvia Y. Perry. “Come out and help us celebrate this wonderful occasion.”

Farmington United Methodist Church, 1939 Farmington Road, Mocksville, will host a community breakfast from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, March 12. The menu will include pork tenderloin, sausage and sausage gravy, eggs, grits, stewed apples, biscuits, breakfast casserole, coffee and orange juice.

Mocks Breakfast Saturday

Mocks United Methodist Church will host its Saturday breakfast on March 12 from 6:30-10 a.m. Cost is $7 a plate which includes meat, eggs, grits, sausage gravy, biscuit, and beverage.

Mocks is at Mocks Church and Beauchamp roads, Advance. The breakfast is sponsored by the Mocks United Methodist Men and proceeds go toward their projects.

Egg Hunt, Cross Walk

And Easter Services

The Advance United Methodist Church Easter Egg Hunt for children of all ages will be on Palm Sunday, March 20, at 2 p.m. Bring your children and their friends for this fun Easter tradition.

The Second Annual Advance Community Cross Walk will be on Good Friday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m. The walk will begin at Shady Grove Elementary School on Cornatzer Road and travel Fire Station Road to Underpass Road to NC 801 and finish at Advance UMC (1 mile).

There will be a van at the rear of the procession if you cannot walk, or cannot walk the entire route. This was successful last year and there is much anticipation for this year’s walk. All ages enjoy the cross walk. This is a meaningful event to remember the sacrifice Christ made for each of us, and a wonderful witness to all who see and experience the walk.

Easter Sunrise Service recalling the discovery of the empty tomb will be at 7:15 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 27 in the cemetery at Advance United Methodist Church.There will be a light breakfast following in the fellowship hall.
