Tennessee was left abandoned in an apartment complex and was rescued by Officer Keith Hurley of the Mocksville Police Department.

Hurley found Tennessee severely malnourished and huddled up with a cat.

“Skin and bones doesn’t even begin to describe it,” Hurley said.

Tennessee was released to the custody of the Davie County Animal Shelter while investigators worked on the case.

Shortly after, Tennessee entered the Humane Society of Davie County adoption center program. Staff and volunteers worked with him to help him gain weight and confidence.

Hurley said while petting Tennessee: “I’m still trying to find you a forever home Tennessee. I tell everyone I meet about you.”

The HSDC adoption center is a safe haven for the abused and neglected. HSDC needs help to continue making second chances a priority. Thanks to Hurley, Tennessee has a second chance to join a family who will shower him with love and affection.
