The N.C. Department of Transportation confirmed this morning that final touches on the delayed roundabout should be finished for the road to open sometime this afternoon (Thursday).

The roundabout was originally scheduled to open in August, but has been plagued by delays. The road has been closed since spring.

Even DOT officials expressed concern about the delays from contractor Country Boy Landscaping when giving a transportation update to county commissioners in October.

“I appreciate everyone’ patience with this project and we are excited as well that the road is re-opening today,” said Kevin R. Hedrick, an engineer with the DOT.
