Yes, Thanksgiving is early this year – a day away from the earliest possible date for the fourth Thursday.

And yes, that means it’s already time for the ‘Twas the Night Before Bed Races,” scheduled this Friday evening in Downtown Mocksville.

Downtown streets will close at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. start of the festivities. Races are scheduled to start at about 6:30 p.m. The white lights that outline Mocksville’s buildings will be turned on at dusk.

Presented by the Mocksville Tourism Authority, the award-winning bed race will feature more than a dozen teams competing for bragging rights and the $700 in prize money.
