The Irish poet William Allingham may have famously written “Autumn’s the mellow time,” but members of Bermuda Run Garden Club have been far from mellow during this autumn.

During the past month, members submitted container plants, horticulture specimens, and floral designs into the competitive Carolina Classic Fair Flower Show, resulting in 89 ribbons.

Second Vice President Beth Wright was awarded the Color Award in the Design Division with her submission “Vincent van Gogh.”

Camellia expert Will Ferrell spoke to a full house at the club’s October meeting to share information, photos, and specimens of fall- and winter-blooming camellias.

And despite a rainy start to the day, the October shredding event was again a success, assisting customers who were pleased to have the opportunity to dispose of private documents, as well as earning funds which the club will use to support Davie charitable organizations.
