BERMUDA RUN – Athletic competitions, outdoor concerts, and holiday events make this community a destination.

To encourage continued growth, the Bermuda Run Tourism Development Authority (TDA) is seeking grant proposals from non-profit and for-profit organizations aiming to organize special projects and events that draw visitors to the town and area that  increases the economic impact on the community.

Previous grants include:

• artificial turf project at Truist Sports Park;

• marketing grants to WinMock to promote the wedding business;

• marketing grants to Hampton Inn; and

• grants to entice event organizers to bring events to Truist Sports Park and RISE Indoor Sports.

“The Bermuda Run TDA, in addition to grant funding, utilizes its resources to market the Bermuda Run community and its assets as a great destination for visitors,” said Scott Wollaston, CEO of NC Triad Fusion (which owns and operates Truist Sports Park) and chair of the Bermuda Run TDA board.

“We are fortunate to have so many great amenities in such a small town (golf courses, outdoor sports complex, indoor sports complex, wedding/special event venue, and hospital) that bring in visitors,” he said. “Our goal is to utilize the resources that we receive from the occupancy tax from the Hampton Inn Bermuda Run to keep the flywheel going….to make sure we keep visitors coming to Bermuda Run, spending money in our community, and ultimately staying in our hotel (and potentially future hotels).”

The tourism board consists of local leaders that represent some of the leading tourism drivers, including representatives from Davie County Tourism, Town of Bermuda Run, Truist Sports Park, RISE Indoor Sports, Bermuda Run Country Club, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center, and the Hampton Inn Bermuda Run.

“Together, they support the growth and promotion of the Town’s tourist attractions, assets, and potential future tourism sites,” said Town Manager Andrew Meadwell.

The deadline to apply for a 2023-2024 grant cycle grant is Sept. 30. Any organization wishing to request funding support from Bermuda Run Tourism must complete a Request for Tourism Project Funding form found on the town website. These forms must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.  Applications received after the grant cycle is closed may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis or will be considered in the next grant cycle in the following fiscal year.
