It was near 11 p.m. on Sunday night, Aug. 20 when Davie sheriff’s deputies spotted two vehicles in a parking lot off East Lexington Road and Depot Street in Mocksville.
The vehicles had been reported stolen.
As the deputies approached in patrol vehicles, the suspects – in both vehicles, fled, leading to a chase that led to US 158 to Farmington Road where the two suspect vehicles collided with one another, reported Davie Sheriff J.D. Hartman.
A juvenile and an adult were detained immediately, and three more juveniles and one more adult were found nearby.
Hartman said two loaded handguns were found in the vehicles.
The juveniles ranged in age from 14-17, all from Winston-Salem.
Jonathan Smith, 22, of Winston-Salem, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and contributing to the deliquency of a minor. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $2,000 bond, pending a Sept. 14 appearance in Davie District Court.
Demarcus Williams, 21, of Winston-Salem, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, contributing to the deliquency of a minor, resisting an officer. He was also served with outstanding warrants from another county. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $20,000 bond, also pending a Sept. 14 appearance in court.
The four juveniles were referred to juvenile justice officials, with requested charges ranging from possession of a stolen vehicle to traffic offenses while fleeing from law enforcement. The juveniles were provided with medical assistance before being released to family, Hartman said.
