The Town of Mocksville will be conducting leak tests in the sanitary sewer system this week by blowing smoke into the pipes.

The smoke used will reveal sources of sewer odors in the system as well as places where storm and other surface waters are entering the sewer system, said Town Manager Ken Gamble. A special non-toxic smoke will be used in these tests. This smoke is manufactured for this purpose, leaves no residuals or stains and has no effects on plant and animal life. The smoke has a distinctive, but not unpleasant odor.

The map shows the sections of sewer line to be tested the week of Aug. 7-11, in yellow. Door hangers will also be placed at residences and businesses in the testing area.
