Carson Whisenhunt, who is pitching for Double-A Richmond, was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game in Seattle on July 8 at 7 p.m.

The lefthander from Mocksville also cracked the MLB Top 100 Prospects list last week.

Part of Major League Baseball’s All Star Week activities, the futures game will be on Saturday, July 8, at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

The seven-inning contest will be played in a National League vs. American League format and will air exclusively on Peacock and SiriusXM.

Whit Merrifield of Advance was selected on Sunday evening as a backup second baseman for the 2023 MLB All-Star game, scheduled for July 11 in Seattle. It will be his third all-star game appearance, the others coming in 2019 and 2021.

Merrifield is batting .282 with 30 RBIs, 18 stolen bases and has a .981 fielding percentage.
