County Line: St. Matthews dinner on the grounds this Sunday

The annual Saint Matthews Lutheran Church Homecoming will be held Sunday, June 25. A covered-dish dinner on the grounds will begin at 1 p.m. Come and bring a picnic basket filled with food and fond memories to share. Everyone is invited to join former members, relatives, and friends for dinner and fellowship beneath the towering old oak trees.
Upcoming community events: annual Unity High School Alumni Association dinner meeting at the Unity Center (old Unity High School) on Salisbury Road Saturday, July 1; and Society Baptist Vacation Bible School with Kick-off Sunday, July 16, and classes Monday, July 17-Wednesday, July 19.
The V-Point Ruritans, Woodmen of the World Chapter 999, and American Legion Post 113 hosted a Flag Day Ceremon” at the Harmony Cemetery Wednesday of last week. As photos show, it was patriotic and remembered those veterans interred there. fter the ceremony, everyone enjoyed fellowship and food furnished by the Ruritans and Woodmen of the World.
Local churches recognized fathers in attendance last Sunday, Father’s Day. At age 90, Jim Stroud of Society Baptist was the oldest father there.
Our community extends sympathy to the family of Steven Tevis Brown; who died unexpectedly Saturday, June 10, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
We send get-well wishes to Mildred Beck and Alice Waugh. Mildred and Alice are at Forsyth Medical Center with pneumonia. Join us in prayer for the Lord’s divine healing upon Mildred, Alice, and others who have health problems. Pray for the Lord’s comfort and strength upon the family of Steven as they deeply miss him in life.
