Alice Brown to speak at Black History Month program

Davie County Senior Services and the Davie Chapter of the NAACP invites the community to attend the annual Black History Month Celebration titled “Then and Now.”
Alice Garrett Brown will speak. Brown, a native of Davie County, attended the Davie County Training School and graduated from Price High School in Salisbury.
She was one of six African-American freshmen to enroll in the Woman’s College (now UNC-Greensboro) in 1961. Brown now lives in Mocksville with her husband, Andrew.
The celebration will be held at the Bobby H. Knight Senior Center at 278 Meroney St. in Mocksville on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.
