Kathleen (Smith) Brown, 95, of Mocksville, NC departed this world on Jan. 9, 2023.

Kathleen was born on Dec. 29, 1927 in Jones County, daughter of the late Charlie Smith and Riffie (Meadows) Smith.  In addition to her mother and father, Kathleen was preceded in death by: her husband, Charlie Brown Jr.; a son, Charlie Patrick Brown (and surviving spouse Beth Salmons); sisters, Lana Kay Salmons (and surviving spouse Dean Salmons), Margarettie Swinson, Retha Henderson, Annie Mae Smith, and Hazel Morris; brothers, Charlie Milton Smith, Dallas Milton Smith, and Dorcas Morris.

In life, Kathleen graduated from Maysville High School with the class of 1945. In the winter of 1947 Kathleen married her loving husband Charlie Brown Jr. She was a member of Heaven Bound Full Gospel Church where she played the piano and enjoyed singing. Other talents that Kathleen shared were playing the guitar, canning, and entertaining her friends and family.

Kathleen leaves behind to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Faye Brown Carpenter (James) and Felisa Brown Robertson (Gary), all of Mocksville; a sister, Mary Wood (Frank) of Stella; 5 grandchildren, Teresa Meyst, Marty Draughn, Nikki Cranfill (Skip), Lynn Horne (Tray), and Thomas Salmons; 6 great grandchildren; and one greatgreat-granddaughter.

On Saturday, Jan. 14, a visitation was held at Heaven Bound Full Gospel Church.  Following that visitation Rev. James Ward and Pastor Jerry Smith officiated Kathleen’s funeral service.  Kathleen was laid to rest in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
