Davie County is preparing for winter weather this weekend.
Here is important information for residents prpovided by Davie County Government:
The following are ways to ensure services are provided at an optimal level:
–Utilize the number 9-1-1 for EMERGENCIES only.
–For power outages, please report those directly to your power company.
–Duke Energy customers call 1-800-769-3766 (1-800-POWER-ON). Customers may also report an outage or view current outages online at www.duke-energy.com/outages or text OUT to 57801.
–Energy United customers call 1-800-386-4833 (1-800-EUNITED).
–Do not call for trees down on private property, unless there is an immediate life-threating situation.
–The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will use a tiered approach to snow plowing: 1) Interstates, 2) Primary Roads, 3) Secondary Roads (including subdivision streets).
–The NCDOT asks citizens to stay off roads and not park vehicles on shoulders of roads and/or streets.

–Citizens can sign up for County website notifications here: https://www.daviecountync.gov/list.aspx where closings and delays are posted.
Be prepared for whatever conditions occur. Prepare for winter weather and outages that may impact you by doing the following:
–Ensure an adequate supply of flashlights, batteries, bottled water, non-perishable foods, medicines, etc., as well as the availability of a portable, battery-operated radio, TV or weather radio.
–Stay away from power lines that have fallen or are sagging. Consider all lines energized as well as trees or limbs in contact with lines. Please report downed power lines to your power company or local emergency services.
–If you use a generator due to a power outage, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safe and proper operation. Operate your generator outside; never operate it inside a building or garage.
–Don’t use grills or other outdoor appliances or equipment indoors for space heating or cooking, as these devices may emit carbon monoxide.
–Citizens should make alternate shelter arrangements as needed if you will be significantly impacted by a loss of power – especially families who have special medical needs or elderly members.
As a reminder, Davie County facilities will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Any potential announcement about adjustments to the hours of operation for county facilities on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 due to inclement weather will be shared in future communications.
