When school is out for the holidays, several parents are not able to take the same amount of time off work while their children are out of school.
That’s why the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina offers a Winter Break Camp at several locations from mid-December until students are back in the classroom in January.
“The holidays can be stressful enough as it is, then you add on having to find childcare for your kids when they’re out of school. Fortunately, we’re able to offer that service to our members and to folks who aren’t members of the Y,” said Chris Chunn, executive director of Education and Swim at the YMCA of NWNC.
Winter Break Camps include holiday-themed arts and crafts, songs and games, and physical activities to keep kids moving and healthy. Camps are available at the Davie Family YMCA Dec. 17-30 (closed on Dec. 24 and 31).
The cost for Winter Break Camp is $35 per day (per child) for Y members, and $45 per day for potential members.
Meals and snacks are not included during camps, so families need to make sure to send lunch with their children.
