Fall, Halloween activities abound this weekend

Halloween Town will be active this weekend, as Mocksville again celebrates with activities for all ages.
And across Davie County, churches, fire departments and community organizations are planning trunk or treats, fall festivals and candy give-aways.
North Main Street Mocksville will be closed on Halloween night so the trick or treaters can go safely from house to house. There will be live music, a haunted house at the Brock, and more.
Here are just some of the activities planned in Davie County for the weekend.

Holly Lane Haunt
The Holly Lane Haunt in the Garden Valley community of Mocksville (off Sanford Ave.) will again wow visitors with special effects, scary characters, plenty of animatronics and more. It is free, and trick or treaters are welcome. It will be open Saturday and Sunday from 6:30-10 p.m.

Downtown
Downtown Mocksville merchants will be decked out as ghouls, goblins, and witches and more, while treating all trick-or-treaters with candies and prizes on Saturday, Oct. 30. They welcome the families throughout the afternoon and early evening.
The Station will be rocking from 4-7 p.m. with a Minion Block Party with Minion characters and kid friendly music.

Fall Into Art at
Bermuda Run
Davie County Arts Council invites all ages to “Fall Into Art” on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Bermuda Run’s Town Center at the end of Kinderton Boulevard (off US 158). The event is free from 5-8:30 p.m.
There are contests where age groups can show their creativity and win cash prizes.
Magical Storyteller, Mark Daniel, will perform two shows and fun fortune telling will be provided by “Madame Tellsall.” Of course, candy will be given-out by not only the arts council volunteers but more available at the 4-H table.
Rules for each contest and their schedules can be found on the arts council’s website at www.daviearts.org. The following is a list of the contest and games:
• Carved Pumpkin Contest with monetary prizes for three age categories;
• Themed/Decorated Pumpkin Contest with monetary prizes for three age categories;
• Children’s Costume Contest with monetary prizes for three age categories;
• Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest with monetary prizes for three age categories;
• Selfie Scavenger Hunt Game;
• Knock – Knock the Monster Game;
• Witch’s Hat Toss Game; and
• Jack’s Bag Toss.
Should weather forecast change plans the Arts Council will post that information on its Facebook site.

Cooleemee
Fall Festival
A fall festival will be held at the Cooleemee Shopping Center off NC 801 from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, with chicken stew, hotdogs, games and a trunk or treat.
A candy give-away (Call Aaron Thies at town hall, 336-284-2141 or athies@cooleemee.org to sign up for the trunk or treat in the parking lot.

Cornerstone
Yee Haw Festival
Cornerstone Christian Church, 1585 NC 801 N., Mocksville, will host a Yee Haw Festival from 5:30-7_30 p.m. Saturday, with a chicken stew, hotdogs, games and trunk or treat.
North Main Street
the place to be Sunday
North Main Street residents in Mocksville will go all out for trick or treaters on Sunday.
Paths to participating houses will be lined with gravestones, ghosts, goblins and witches.
Live music by Jason Michael Carroll and Jason Schmidt will take place at 641 N. Main St. from 6-9 p.m.
The Brock, 622 N. Main St., will be the scene of “The Conjurer” on Sunday evening (See photos).
North Main Street from downtown to Country Lane will be closed to vehicles on Sunday evening from 5-9.
Blaise Baptist
Fall Festival
Blaise Baptist Church, 134 Blaise Church Road (off US 601 N., Mocksville) will host a fall festival beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday.
There will be trunk or treat, a chicken stew, hotdogs, hayrides, games for kids, a silent auction and music by the Amick Adventure Band. To participate in the trunk or treat, call Pastor Tim at 336-408-3838.
Fork Baptist
Fall Festival
Fork Baptist Church, 3140 US 64 E., Mocksville, will host a fall festival from 5-7 p.m. Sunday.
There will be trunk or treat, a costume contest, car trunk contest, free hotdog supper, games, face painting, sno cones, popcorn and hayrides. Learn more at www.forkbaptist.com.
