After finishing third in the conference, Davie’s golf season ended in the Central Regional at Longleaf Golf Club in Pinehurst on Oct. 19.
The top two finishers were from the Central Piedmont Conference as Reagan shot 4-under par and West Forsyth 13-over. Davie finished 13th out of 14 teams at 97-over.
“We did not have the day we hoped for,” coach Bob Donley said. “All three girls played with a lot of effort and heart, but just did not have their best day on the course.”
Davie’s No. 1 player was senior Annika McDaniel, who shot 20-over 92 to tie for 34th out of 66 players. She was six strokes from the cut line for the state meet. Junior Emerson Vanzant tied for 46th with a 99. Davie’s third player was senior Krystal Davis.
Reagan captured the top two spots individually as Morgan Ketchum shot 69 and Macy Pate 70.
“I am so proud of all members of our team for a successful season, finishing third in the CPC and having three golfers move on to the regionals,” Donley said. “Annika had a great four-year career, Krystal had a great senior season and Emerson has emerged as a great talent and is poised to be our senior leader next season. All three qualified to be among the top 66 golfers in our region and in the top 198 in the state.”
