Annie Smith “Miss Annie” Howell – devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend – has died.
She was born on Feb. 23, 1935 to John Odell and Mildred Allen Smith. She retired from Hanes after many years. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, cooking, crocheting, spending time with her daughter and her special dog Heidi. She was eager to lend a helping hand and was happiest when helping others. She was a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church and loved attending church as her health permitted.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 46 years, Lee Roy Howell; 2 brothers, Odell Glenn and Harold Wayne Sr.; 2 sisters, Nancy and Flora Mae; sister-in-law Peggy; brothers-in-law Roger and Thurmond; and nephew Dale.
Survivors: her only child, daughter Judy (Grey Marshall); brother, Willie Gray; sister-in-law, Elaine; several nieces and nephews; and Aunts Dorothy and Frances.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Ronnie Craddock. She will lie in state from noon-1:45 p.m. at Yadkin Valley prior to the graveside service.
