The 2021 Touchdowns for Education Team is being drafted. The team will work together to support Ignite Davie College Promise.
Ignite Davie pays tuition and fees for students to attend either campus of Davidson-Davie Community College full-time, with up to $250 per semester for books. Students must live in and attend school in Davie County. It is not based on academic merit or financial need; it is available to all residents.
“At the Davie Community Foundation, we believe a college education is one of the most important touchdowns a young person can score,” said Jane Simpson, president and CEO. “We hope you will want to be part of the 2021 team to support the 143 Davie students who are already part of Ignite Davie.”
The 2021 Touchdowns for Education Team will add to the Ignite Davie Endowment at the foundation.
At its inception in 2019, it was projected that a $3 million endowment would sustain Ignite Davie for future generations. Ignite Davie has commitments for $2 million.
“No donation is too big or too small. You can help reach the community-wide goal by joining the team,” she said. “It will be immensely satisfying to know that you have invested in students, both today and into the future.”
Kick off for 2021 Touchdowns for Education game is 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at Davie High’s War Eagle Stadium as the War Eagles take on the East Forsyth “Eagles.”
The game plan is for local sponsors to join the 2021 Touchdowns for Education Team. For every War Eagle touchdown scored, the sponsors each contribute $100 to the Ignite Davie endowment. Each team member agrees to a minimum contribution of $200 for the game with a maximum commitment of $500.
“With this game plan, we all win. As a team member, you or your business will be recognized in the Enterprise Record and will receive press coverage by game announcers on the night of the game. Don’t miss your chance to act as a quarterback for these young players to score additional education.”
To join the all-community team, fill out the online form at www.daviefoundation.org by Sept. 17 to be can included in promotional materials.
“It’s all about teamwork. It’s all about students and community. Together we can score the most significant touchdown, a chance for students to get the education and training needed for a better future,” Simpson said. “Go team.”
