Donald O. “Junior: Smith Jr., 53, of Mocksville, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 31, 1967 in Davie County to Joyce Tucker Smith and the late Donald O. Smith Sr. He attended Davie County Schools and had been an EMT in Davie County and a truck driver. He was involved with the Smith Grove Fire Department, from the junior firefighter program to chief. He loved fishing and his friends and family.

He was also preceded in death by: an infant son, Joseph.

Surviving: his mother and her partner, Donald Miller of Mocksville; sister, Cindy Smith Charest (Scott) of Mocksville; his daughters, Jessica Garrison (Alan) of Winston-Salem, Kera Smith (Josh) of Mocksville, Misty Smith and Emily Smith, both of Mocksville, Hannah Smith of Winston-Salem; step-daughter Megan Bradsher of Winston-Salem; bonus daughter Ashley Potts of Mocksville; 2 grandchildren, Ellie and Shelby; 2 nephews, Jacob Charest of Charleston, S.C. and Nathaniel Charest of Huntersville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
