On Thursday, July 1, Senior Services re-opened to the public after a 15-month closure.

As participants entered the doors, they were greeted with balloons in the Senior Services colors – red and black, with a splash of silver to match the Welcome Back balloon banner across the reception area.

The room filled up with folks enjoying fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee while they socialized with one another for hours.

Each person who attended the party received a Welcome Back Safety Kit which held items such as a miniature pack of Clorox wipes, a mask, hand sanitizer, and a few other fun items.

As the day continued, Senior Services hosted the ribbon cutting and open house at the new Health and Fitness Center at the BC Brock Gymnasium building. The ribbon cutting was held in the new exercise room and afterwards folks were invited to stay for tours.

The new Senior Services Health and Fitness Center at the Brock Gym brings so much awesome energy to the Senior Services programming. The new exercise room is larger and allows class size capacity to go up so that more participants can enjoy classes such as line dancing, yoga, Zumba, cheerleading, Tai Chi, and more.

The exercise equipment area has been expanded and allowed for more equipment – the only requirements to use this area is to be 55 or older and take a brief training on how to use the equipment correctly.

And last, but not least, the gymnasium allows for Senior Services to create a space for participants to walk every morning, practice basketball, play pickleball, play cornhole, and more. This space will also allow Senior Services to have a designated space for Senior Games activities  throughout the year and allow more options to promote senior health and wellness in the Davie County community.

Senior Services welcomes all participants 55 and older to come out and join in all of the activities.Card games, parties, lunch, and more will continue to be held at the Senior Services main campus, 278 Meroney St., Mocksville, while the health and fitness activities will be at the Brock Campus, 644 N. Main Street, Mocksville.

Senior Services offers so many activities and hope you will come find an activity you love to participate in.
