Oscar and Sara W. Koontz celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday, June 3. The family gathered in their honor on Sunday, June 6 at The Lodge at Carolina Bible Camp.

The couple has lived in the Davie Academy community all of their 70 years. In 1951, when they married, they remained on the Koontz multi-generational farm and later purchased the farm from Oscar’s parents.

They have four children: Jerry (deceased in 1976), Jimmy (Carolyn), Elaine Snow (Jimmy), and Mark (Amy). They have five grandchildren and nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.

What is their secret to a long and happy marriage? Love and consideration for each other and always put God first and foremost.
