Title sponsor, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, rolled out the red carpet for the 112 golfers who played in the Annual Swing For Charity Golf Tournament presented by the Gilliland Foundation May 22 at the Pudding Ridge Golf Course.

The tournament benefited A Storehouse For Jesus, an independent, non-profit, Christian ministry helping those in need.

“Piedmont Advantage Credit Union went above and beyond as our title sponsor,” said Board Chair Diane Gilliland. “We are so grateful for the employees from the credit union who volunteered onsite at the tournament and everyone who participated in our tournament.”

The law firm of Penry Terry & Mitchell treated the golfers and volunteers to Deano’s barbecue for lunch. Darryl Bandy’s State Farm Insurance Agency sponsored the “Hole-in-One” and “On the Green Challenge, while Carolina Center for Eye Care sponsored the “Closest to the Pin” contest. Candido Landscaping once again sponsored the “Longest Drive” competition.

In 2017, the Gilliland Foundation was founded by local author and Hall of Fame Speaker Steve Gilliland. The mission is to bring joy and hope to people who need it most. “There is nothing more rewarding than giving back and making a difference in the lives of people in this great community.”

Next up for the Gilliland Foundation is the Toss For Charity Corn Hole Tournament at RayLen Vineyards & Winery on Oct. 2. The tournament will be limited to the first 64 teams to register and pay. The festivities will include the double-elimination tournament, live band, and food trucks. The event will benefit children battling cancer.
