A Winston-Salem teen-ager is dead after a gunfight near the Davie County
Detention Center on Sunday afternoon.
Daniel Potts, 18, was found dead in a car that had been driven into the side to the Davie County Rescue Squad building, said Davie Sheriff J.D. Hartman. The building was slightly damaged.
While officers arrived at the scene, another gunshot victim had reported to Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run. That victim, Trayle Beasley, 18, of Winston-Salem, was treated and released.
Hartman said that about 2:50 p.m. Sunday, a 911 call came in about gunshots being fired in the area. An officer was close by, and found the vehicle at the rescue squad building. There was another man at the scene, and multiple people nearby in the road, Hartman said.
Multiple people were involved in the altercation, and none were from Davie County, Hartman said. Two weapons were recovered from the secne.
One man admitted to firing his gun, saying that someone he knew was being dragged by the car and that someone in the car was firing a gun at him.
