Fred William Gentle, 92, of Mocksville, died on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021.
He was born March 26, 1928 in Iredell County to the late John Hix Gentle and Lessie Myers Gentle. He retired from Mclean Trucking after 33 years and logged over 7 million miles. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a master gardener and beekeeper.
He was also preceded in death by: his sisters, Mary Bell Steelman, Daisy Carter, Ella Mae Ireland; brothers, Walter Gentle, Albert Gentle, Wayne Gentle.
Surviving: his wife of 70 years, Betty Adams Gentle; children, Elaine (David) James, Jimmy (Melinda) Gentle, Lynn Gentle; grandchildren, Adrian (Tracey) Gentle, Denise (Michael) Porter, Aubrey (Shannon) James, Kayla (Tim) Norman; great-grandchildren, Austin Gentle, Reagan Gentle, Liam Gentle, Finley Gentle, Dane Porter, Kate Porter, Noah Porter, Nora James, Clara James, Landon Norman, Colton Norman; a step great -randchild, Andrew Tharpe; sister, Rosalene Hall; brother, John Henry (Carol) Gentle; several nieces and nephews.
His graveside service was to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery by the Revs. Noel Hawks and Marvin Blackburn. The body lie in-state on Tuesday, Jan. 19 from noon-4 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 8 a.m.-noon at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
