Wednesday, Oct. 28 was a historical day for Daisy Shepherd of Mocksville.
It was her first time voting in 81 years.
“Ms. Daisy” is homebound due to being handicapped with physical ailments and wheelchair mobility. After being registered; she was so delighted, excited, emotional, grateful and empowered to know that she has a voice and that her vote counts.
It was not about Democrat or Republican, she said. The most important thing is that she had the opportunity to exercise her right to vote during her lifetime.
“This just goes to remind us that it is never too late to do something new and something you have never done before,” said Angelia Ijames. “Be empowered and let your voice be heard.”
