Willie Jerome “Geedy” Carter, 72, of Cooleemee, died Saturday Sept. 19, 2020 at Glen Kiser Hospice of Salisbury.

He was born May 5, 1948 in Rowan County, the son of the late Willie Gray Carter and Cora Louise (Fowler) Carter. He attended school in Davie County. He worked for North Carolina Finishing, and Jockey for more than 50 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and working on cars.

Survivors: his wife, Frances (Blackwell) Carter; son, Jerome Carter; daughters, Lisa Carter, Francine Carter, and Elaine Carter; brother, Melvin Carter (Wanda); sister, Rosa Carter; grandchildren, Aaron Felder, Joshua Young, Tykedrick Gadson; a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Ethel Payne.

A public visitation will be held from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Liberty AME Zion Church Cemetery in Mocksville.
