Kathleen “Kat” Hayes Hutchens, 84, of Linwood, died Dec. 1, 2019 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born on June 7, 1935 in Yadkin County, the daughter of the late Lala Hayes. She was also preceded by: her husband, Nelson Hutchens; granddaughter, Christy Sink Eaton; sister, Mazie Reavis; and brother, Jessie Hayes.
She attended Yadkin County Schools, then worked as a production operator at Celanese for 24 years. She loved puzzles, crocheting, and Facebook.
Surviving: children, Kathy Scarlette (James) of Lexington, Wayne Hutchens (Margaret) of Mocksville, Anita Sanford of Huntersville, Rebecca Ridenhour (Jeff) of Booneville, and Vickie Gammons (Jody) of Mocksville; 2 special sisters- in- law, Freddie Nichols of Mocksville, Ruby Sharpe of Harmony; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 3 nieces.
A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9 at Sandy Springs Church in Harmony with Pastors David Kiser and Timothy Sink officiating. A private burial was held at Siloam Cemetery.
