Mr. William Edsel “Bill” Knost, 83, died with his wife of 63 years by his side, on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019.
He was born on Aug. 10, 1936 to Richard Edwin and Lucy Leora Knost in St. Mary’s, W.Va. He was the 4th of 11 children. He married Veronica “Ronnie” Knost on Feb. 11, 1956 and they began their life together in Erie, Pa. He was a devoted Christian for more than 65 years, a faithful member of Warners Chapel Church of Christ, and known for his vocal “Amens.” He spent the majority of his life as a delivery driver for companies in Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina. After retiring, he worked as an evening custodian at North Davie Middle School for five years.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Richard and Lucy Knost; 2 sisters, Thelma Knost and Mary Lillie; and 2 brothers, Glenn and Earl Knost.
Survivors: his wife, Veronica; daughters, Kathy (David) Courtemanche and Tammy (Mark) Roy; 6 grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Courtemanche, Jordan Courtemanche, Brandon Roy, Nathan Roy, Tara Roy, and Tristan Roy: 3 great-grandchildren, David, Leah, and Samuel Courtemanche; 3 brothers, Bernard, John, and Richard Knost, all of Tennessee; 3 sisters, Betty Karkosky, Audrey Chessher, and Mildred Rhoades, all of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at Warners Chapel Church of Christ with Kevin Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
