The Ignite Davie College Promise is gaining support as Attorney Ryan B. Addison and wife Theresa and the Davie County Economic Development Commission made recent commitments of $5,000 and $150,000, respectively.

“We are proud to support Ignite Davie and the students of Davie County,” Addison said. “This is an important investment in both our children and community and we would like to specifically challenge others in the Davie County Bar to meet or exceed our commitment to this worthwhile initiative,” said Ryan Addison.

The economic development board voted unanimously to approve the support, which gives $30,000 to Ignite Davie this year with the intention of giving an additional $30,000 each year for the next four years.

“This is the time in our county history where a collaborative vision clearly defines the path forward for the greater good and the investment in future generations becomes a critical building block for tomorrow. Ignite Davie removes impediments to higher education and ensures we are developing a well-trained and prepared workforce,” said Terry Bralley, president of Davie County Economic Development Commission.

“Ignite Davie puts education at the center of our community and will ultimately spark the economic vitality of Davie County,” said Carolyn McManamy, director of Davie Connect. “It is a place-based last dollar scholarship; which means students must live in, and attend high school in Davie County.”

Beginning with the Class of 2020, Ignite Davie will pay tuition and fees with a stipend for books for residents to attend DCCC fulltime at either campus.  Any student in a certificate, associate or college transfer program is eligible.
