Mary Foster, 89, of Mocksville, died Nov. 17, 2019, at her residence after a long battle with colon cancer.

She was born in Davie County on Dec. 8, 1929, a daughter of the late James and Dot (Beck) Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Foster, daughter Betty Foster Nail, and sister Sarah Wood.

She married John Foster on Sept. 27, 1947 in York, S.C. He died on April 11, 1971. She was a retired seamstress from Southeastern Sewing, she was a homemaker, and a great cook. She loved gardening, reading, and sewing. She enjoyed traveling with friends. She attended Concord United Methodist Church.

Surviving: daughters, Mary Elizabeth Foster, Kathy Foster (Hahne), and Brenda F. Potts (Danny); grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Dana Lee Hayes, Lauren Miller, Ashley Miller, Charlie Love; and a great-grandchild, Savannah Reese Love.

A graveside service was to be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Rowan Memorial Park Cemetery.
