Ms. Sylvia Ezell Steele, 74, died on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 at her residence in Bowie, Md.
She was born Dec. 3, 1944 in Davie County to the late Forest McKinnley Steele and Blanche Jones Steele. She was educated in the public schools of Davie County and retired as a housing manager with the DC Public Housing Authority in Washington, DC. She was currently a member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church where she served as a Elder, member of Presbyterian Women, and she sang in multiple choirs in the NC, DC and Maryland areas. She was the director of the Advocacy Center of Davie County at First Presbyterian Church, Mocksville, and served over the decades with PTSO with the DC Public School System.
Survivors: her daughters, Ivery(Bruce) Himes of Bowie, Md., and Stephanie (Omar) Braxton of Washington, DC; grandchild, Kamill Braxton; great-grandchild, Keon Braxton; sisters, Ivery Odelle Searles of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Gwendolyn Azalea Carter of Bethseda, Md.; brothers, Carl (Valerie) Steele of Camp Springs, Md., and Minor T. Steele of Mocksville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
