Taylor, Draughn win in Mocksville

Rob Taylor and Justin Draughn were elected to seats on the Mocksville Town Board Tuesday with 508 and 444 votes, respectively. Incumbent Brent trailed with 249 votes. Will Marklin received 579 votes in his bid for re-election as mayor.
In Bermuda Run, Curtis Capps and Heather Coleman were elected to the town council, with 200 and 191 votes, respectively. John Guglielmi trailed with 98 votes. Rick Cross, unopposed for mayor, received 251 votes.
Jessica Daywalt Almond won the race for Cooleemee mayor, beating challenger Clayton Briggs 73 to 33 votes. Jeannie Taylor and Michael White were elected to the town board with 73 votes each. Hellen Daywalt received 22 write-in votes.
