Farmington Community Center has had a change in bluegrass bands for October.
Jonah Riddle and Carolina Express were scheduled but had to cancel. Hazy Ridge Bluegrass will play instead.
Hazy Ridge Bluegrass Band is from Clemmons. They perform original material, bluegrass gospel and classic country with bluegrass flair. They play at local restaurants, dance halls, festivals, fiddler’s conventions, parties and churches.
Members are Vince and Dawn Myers, Marissa Colter and Duane Hicks. Vince Myers, who took up the banjo when he was 18, played in several bands over the years before starting his own band in February 2014 with his wife, Dawn.
Dawn has been singing in local choirs and churches for 28 years. She helps out on vocals and harmonies in the band along with Vince.
Marissa Colter has been playing fiddle for Hazy Ridge for a couple of years. She has been playing the fiddle since she was 7.
Duane Hicks, a Stokes County native, has been a member of Hazy Ridge for about three years. He plays rhythm guitar, vocals and sometimes bass.
Everyone is invited to hear them on Friday night, Oct. 18 at the Farmington Community Center. Doors open at 6. Volunteers will be selling hamburgers and hotdogs with proceeds going toward the upkeep of the center. There is a $6 charge at the door. Music starts at 7 and continues until 9.
