Jimmy Lee Moore, 76, of Lexington, died on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family and while under the care of Wellcare Hospice.
He was born June 22, 1943 in Rowan County, a son of the late Charlie Lee Moore and Bernice Elizabeth (Lyerly) Moore. He was also preceded in death by: a brother, Steven C. Moore; a grandson, Tyler Moore; brother in-law, Paul Lanier Jr.; and a friend Joe “Bubba” Williams.
He attended West Davidson High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. He worked as a barber for 58 years at Bailey’s Barber Shop in Fork and at the South End Barber Shop in Mocksville. He was a member of Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors: his wife of 58 years, Connie Sherrell (Lanier) Moore of Lexington; a son, Scottie Lee Moore of Lexington; daughter, Gina Moore Brown (Nelson) of Lexington; grandchildren, Kelby Alexandra Hankins (Ricky), Hunter Elisabeth Brown, and Katie Leigh Moore; great-grandchildren, Keegan Leigh Hankins, Rowen Grey Hankins, and Karter Elisabeth Hankins; and a friend Sue Williams.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Greer’s Chapel UMC from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Greer’s Chapel at noon, with a visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Charles Lindquist Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
