Annie “Ann” Ethel Dalton Grant, 77, of Mocksville, died on SJuly 30, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.
She was born April 12, 1942 in Mocksville to the late Annie Ethel Cockerham Dalton and Hilrey Hill Dalton. She attended Davie County Training School and graduated with the class of 1961. After finishing school, she worked for the Davie County School System as a school bus driver and teacher assistant for 25 years. She was a dedicated member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church, where she was more than willing to help wherever needed. She was loved and respected by the Mocksville Second church family. She loved being surrounded by family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; a very giving person, and she wanted everyone to be happy. She loved playing bingo and watching drama TV.
She was also preceded in death by: her husband, Fred Grant in 2010; 2 brothers, Jerry Lee Dalton and David Lee Dalton; and a special aunt, Lillian Dalton Doulin, who raised her after the passing of her mother.
Survivors: a son, the Rev. Dr. Jamie (Faye) Grant; a daughter, Stephanie Grant (Michael) Redmon; a sister, Hilda Jean Scott; a brother, Tim Dalton; step-sisters, Amelia Cain, Pam Rankin; step-brother, Thomas Davidson; step-children, Victoria (Steven) Turner and Patrick Turner; 5 grandchildren, Braxten “BJ” Grant, Amilea Redmon, Nakea Hampton, Latoyia Grant,and Andrea Grant; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her funeral service was held on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Mocksville. Bishop Terry Dalton officiated and the Rev. Dr. Jamie Grant delivered the eulogy. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. Burial was on Monday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. in Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
