Lillian Dalton Doulin died on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Iredell County on Jan. 22, 1924, daughter of the late Nick and Lillie Carson Dalton. She attended elementary school in Yanceyville, Va. and high school in Iredell County. At an early age, she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member as long as her health permitted.

In 1955, she was united in marriage to John C. Doulin. To this union, 3 daughters were born. She loved to do word search puzzles, cook, and care for her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by: her husband on Feb. 15, 2003; 8 siblings; and a son-in-law, Marshall Allen Steele.

Survivors: 3 daughters, Patricia Steele, Toni Dalton, and Treva Doulin; her dedicated caregiver; a son-in-law, Daniel Tatum; 8 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Her funeral service was held on Monday, July 29 at 11:30 a.m. at New Calvary Holiness Church in Mocksville.  Apostle Nettye I. Barber officiated and Bishop Terry Dalton delivered the eulogy. Burial followed in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends 30 minutes before the service.
