  • Mrs. Lillian Mae Allen Sidden, 90, of NC 801 S., Advance, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

    She was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Davie County to the late Walter Cleve and Daisy Mae Phelps Allen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted member of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension at Fork in Advance, where she served in numerous roles. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, canning, and cooking.  In later years, she worked for CAPS as a home aide.

    She was also preceded in death by: her husband, Shirley Byerly “S.B.” Sidden; a son, Randall Dale Sidden; 5 brothers; a sister; and a son-in-law, Mark Grubb.

    Survivors: daughters, Shirby Eagle (Tommy) of Advance, Melanie Hunter (Darrin), and Marla Gibson (Steve), all of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, Bryan Eagle, Sheryl Steele (Ben), Amelia Latham (Justin), and Bradly Grubb (Olivia); 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hunter Steele, Reagan Latham, and Ivy and Wyatt Grubb; and several nieces and nephews.

    A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 30 at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension at Fork with the Rev. Dan Wall officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
