Philip Dean Sherman, 87, of Mocksville, died on June 21, 2019, in SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville, following a period of declining health.

He was born in Wellsville, N.Y., on May 1, 1932, son of the late Robert and Stella Cratsley Sherman. He graduated from Harrison Valley High School in Pennsylvania, and served in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 1952 -Jan. 1956.  He received an honorable discharge. He was married to Patricia Reuf, and to this union one child was born. His family had lived in Mocksville since 1992, where he had been a member of North Davie Ruritan Club and a life member of VFW Post. He was also a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church, and the Davie County Singing Seniors.

Survivors: his wife of 61 years, Patricia R. Sherman; a daughter, Penny Lurie; 2 grandchildren, Kristin and Alicia Lurie; a brother, Larry Sherman; a sister, Dorothy Amend; other relatives and friends.

The family will have a memorial service at a later time.
