Mrs. Evelyn Faye Potts Stewart, 88, of US 64 E., Mocksville, died in the early morning hours of June 17, 2019.

Lene, as she was known, was born at the family homeplace in the Dulin community on Nov. 18, 1930, to the late David Jeremiah and Sally Ann Potts. She married Hubert “Pete” Stewart on Dec. 25, 1948, and celebrated 70 years together as man and wife.  Mrs. Stewart was a lifelong member of Dulin United Methodist Church, where she served in many roles. She loved her church as well as her Lord.  Mrs. Stewart collected dolls and enjoyed traveling.

She was also preceded in death by: 2 children, Dale Shoaf Stewart and Crystal Stewart Hilton; brothers, Dink Potts, Cicero “Bill” Potts, and Ralph Potts; and sisters, Magdalene Potts McCullough, Annie Potts Davis, and Millicent Potts Tedrow.

Survivors: her husband Pet, of the home; her twin sister, Elva Potts Hendrix of Advance; a son-in-law, Keith Hilton of Mocksville; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Hilton (Sara), Justin Hilton (Elizabeth), and Vallene Stewart; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Abby, Jared, Jayden, Amelia, Brycen, Madi, Mia, and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 20 at Dulin United Methodist Church with Dr. Darrell Cox and Bruce Morasco officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family was to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at Eaton Funeral Home.
