Susan Michelle Rothrock Blake, 56, of Ramseur, died while surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at her home.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 18, at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, Ramseur. Officiating will be the Rev. Josh Kurtz, pastor. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mocksville.
She was born Jan. 18, 1963 in Forsyth County to Lewis and Jean Rothrock. She graduated from Davie County High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in biology and a bachelor’s in accounting with a minor in business law degrees from UNC(G), and a master’s of teaching degree from N.C. A&T University. She was a licensed CPA, working in CPA firms, medical accounting and medical office management before becoming a media center assistant at Southmont Elementary School, and later becoming a business teacher at South East Randolph Middle School. She cherished her students, especially her FBLA students. She was a long-time member of Jordan Memorial UMC where she had been active in the UMW, Sunday school, Girl Scout troop, youth leader, served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, and ran the audio visual equipment during worship services. She loved taking road trips and learning history. She loved to snow ski and take trips to DC and Amelia Island with her daughter.
Survivors: daughter, Sydney Michelle Blake of Bellvue, Neb.; parents, Lewis and Jean Baker Rothrock of Mocksville; best friend and confidant, the Rev. Charles A. Lindquis Jr. of Linwood; aunt, Polly Lagle of Mocksville; and numerous cousins.
