Mrs. Vickie South Baity, 63, of Advance died on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 28, 1955 in Winston-Salem to Charles South and Katherine Matthews. She grew up in Davie County and graduated from Davie County High School and Davidson County Community College. She worked at Piedmont Airlines, which subsequently became US Airways, for 31 years prior to retirement. She enjoyed anything related to her granddaughters and great-grandson and over the years her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing and reading true crime novels.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Charles South; step-father, Jerry Wood; and step-mother, Helen South.

Surviving: her husband of 45 years, Kent Baity of Advance; 2 sons, Patrick Baity of Advance and Westley Baity (Amy) of Middleburg, Fla.; 3 granddaughters, Kaitlyn Bowden (John), Courtney Baity and Madison Baity; a great-grandson, J.D. Bowden; her mother, Katherine Matthews; step-father, Charles Matthews; a sister, Janice Claybrook (Scott); a brother-in-law and sister-in-law/cousin, Steve and Tina Baity; step-sisters, Kathy Johnson, Linda Allman; nephews, Tyler Baity, Austin Baity and Andrew Claybrook; niece, Katherine Claybrook; and great-nieces, Addi, Emma and Stella Baity.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Dr. Robin G. Dixon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
