Johnny William Burton Jr., 79, of Advance, died on May 8, 2019 in Winston-Salem while under the care of the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

He was born June 30, 1939 in Davie County, a son to the late Johnny William Burton Sr. and Nannie Pearl Keaton Burton. In his working years, he did maintenance and construction for Foster Management & Co. He married Lillie Mae Myers in 1959. He loved listening to gospel music, watching his hummingbirds and working in his garden and yard. He loved giving his family and friends the vegetables he grew. He enjoyed working on his cars and trucks. He was always trying to help other people, which he was passionate about. He was an active member of the Elbaville United Methodist Church.

He was also preceded in death by: his wife; brothers, Robin Scott Burton and Herbert “Buster” Burton; and his sisters, Ruby Marie Burton, Doris Burton Barnes, Mildred Burton Holder and Shirley Burton Phelps.

Survivors: his brothers, William “Buddy” Burton, Rodney Dale Burton and James Burton; his sister, Abbey Burton Stanley; his goddaughters, Brittany and Serenity Hoar; several nieces, nephews and step-siblings; and a special great-niece, Lisa Foster.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m. at the Davie Funeral Service Chapel in Mocksville. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at the Davie Chapel. Burial will be in the Elbaville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Advance.
