Betty “Dawn” Baker, 61, of Statesville, died on April 30, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.

She was born in Ashe County on Jan. 21, 1958, the daughter of the late Glen and Virginia Sheets. She was also preceded in death by: a son, Timothy Eugene Elliott; granddaughter, Ashland Faith Elliott; sisters, Bobbie Marsh, Jean Campbell; brothers, Bill Sheets, Gale Sheets.

She attended Ashe County, schools. She was a truck driver for Lee Jeans. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church of Troutman.

Survivors: her daughters, Deanna Elliott-Beebe (fiance Rex Cockerham) of Statesville, and Jennifer Elliott-Pokorny; brother, Kenneth Sheets of Sparta; sisters, Helen Phillips and Sharon Johnson, both of West Jefferson, and Joanne Shore of Statesville; 8 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held later.
