The 2019 graduation ceremony at Davie High School will sound a little different this year.

The crowd will still be welcomed by the student body president and an invocation will be led by the senior class president; however, students giving speeches will now focus on one for academic excellence and one for excellence in other areas.

The top 10 of the senior class according to rank voted from among the top 10 for an academic speaker.

The second student speaker will be voted on by the entire senior class on May 1 and 2. This second speaker will be called the War Eagle speaker. The War Eagle Speaker is first nominated by the school and community based on characteristics beyond academics, such as exemplary character, leadership through example and service to the community. Any current senior can be nominated in any one of the characteristics. Help recognize exceptional students by nominating through April 24. Community members, parents, teachers, and students can make nominations for: exemplary character, acceptable disciplinary record, academic integrity, concern for others, leadership through example, reaction to obstacles, attitude, and spirit, service to community, volunteerism, participation in extracurriculars/organizations/work.
