Ricky Montgomery Byrd. 60, of Mocksville, died on March 24, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.

He was born Sept. 11, 1958 in Flint, Mich., a son of the late John Milford Byrd and Georgia Ann (Coleman) Sheets. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents.

He was a 1979 graduate of Parkland High School. He worked as a long-haul trucker and as a welder with Thomas Built Buses in High Point for 20 years. He was a member of Union Grove Christian Church.

Survivors: his partner, Mary Barton of Mocksville; son, Chris Spainhour of Winston-Salem; step-son, Michael Barton of Mocksville; daughters, Casey Mills of Winston-Salem, Kristina Byrd of Texas; step-daughter, Julie Burcham of Winston-Salem; sisters, Leean Wilson of Mocksville and Tina Freeman of Mocksville; 5 granddaughters; and 2 grandsons.

A celebration of life service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30 in the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Todd Byrd officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Burial was at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at Benham Baptist Church Cemetery in Elkin.
