Mr. Bobby Gene Cook, 81, of Milling Road, Mocksville, died on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at his home with his family by his side.

He was the oldest child of W. Ransom and Lucille Howard Cook. He graduated from Cooleemee High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and later earned a degree in radio electronics. He began his working career at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.  Being a lover of the outdoors, he later went into housing construction, then swimming pool construction. The last 20-plus years, he fulfilled the dream of his life by breeding, training and field trialing English Setter bird dogs and organizing and managing River Ranch Sporting Club until the time of his death. He loved to golf and hunt. He was a member of Mocksville Masonic Lodge AF&AM 134 and Clemmons Chapter 373 of the Eastern Star.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Cook.

Surviving: his wife of 31 years, Marilyn Triplett Cook; sons, Anthony Barrymore Cook of Simpsonville, S.C. and Eric Bernard Cook of Mocksville; sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Grubb of Mocksville and Judy Emminizer (John) of Little River, S.C.; brothers, Richard (Vivian) and Larry, all of Mocksville; a stepdaughter, Angela Brehm (Andrew); and the joys of his life, granddaughters, Berkley and Alexandra Brehm, all of High Point.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 11 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Dr. Glenn L. Myers Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Turrentine Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
