John Clarence Wooten, 91, died on Saturday, Jan.  23, 2019 at his residence.

He was born May 2, 1927, the son of the late John James and Bertha Reynolds Wooten. Mr. Wooten was a lifelong resident of Iredell County. He most enjoyed fishing and puzzles. He was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church.

Survivors: a son, John M. Wooten of Mt. Pleasant; 2 daughters, Rena Horne (Roy), of Florida and Kathy Seagle of Statesville; 11 grandchildren; NS 27 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded by his wife, Martha “Allene” Wooten of 69 years; and a son, Dwight Wooten.

The visitation and viewing will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Monticello United Methodist Church. The celebration of life service will be conducted at the church at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Amy Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in at Oakwood cemetery where he will be laid to rest near his wife.
