David Daniel ‘Dan’ Browning

David Daniel “Dan” Browning, 75, of Mocksville, died on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at his home.

The son of the late William Edward and Lula Mae Farmer Browning, he was born on Sept. 10, 1943 in Gaston County. He was a truck driver with D.M. Bowman Transportation of Huntersville for 24 years. As an active member of Cooleemee Church of God, he served as an usher, choir member and treasurer. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering with things, and he loved his family.

Survivors: his wife of 56 years, Margie Combs Browning; 3 sons, Bobby Browning (Dusky) of Fork-Bixby, Tommy Browning (Amber) of Cooleemee, and Robert Browning (Brooke) of Fork-Bixby; a daughter, Pam Durham (Randy) of Mocksville; 3 brothers, Bill Browning (Ruth) of Georgia, Johnny Browning of Charlotte, and Kenny Browning of Gaston County; 2 sisters, Rosie Scott and Joyce Moore, both of Gaston County; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Browning, and 3 sisters, Vera, Mary and Rachel.

The family received friends Monday at Davie Funeral Chapel. The service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Cooleemee Church of God with Pastor Bruce Harry officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the time of service. Burial will follow in Legion Memorial Park.
