Lois Cameron Shore

Mrs. Lois Cameron Shore, 97, formerly of 190 W. Church St., Mocksville, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, in Midlothian, Va.

She was born in Alabama to the late Preston Leard and Lethye Woods Cameron. Tom Shore met her on a blind date during his military training in Mobile, Ala. At the end of World War II, they wed, and he brought her to Davie County. Shortly after that they moved into the house where they lived until his death and she remained until 2011. She became an active part of the Mocksville community. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she served in a number of capacities. She worked at the Bank of Davie, as a teacher’s aide at Mocksville Elementary School, as secretary at First Baptist, and spent most of her working years as the secretary to the branch manager at Central Carolina Bank. She also served the community, chairing the board of Davie County Hospital and serving on the Mocksville Zoning Board and the board of Mocksville Savings Bank.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Isaac Shore.

Surviving: 2 daughters, Kathy (Steve) Allsbrook and Jane (Ed) Burkhart; 4 grandchildren, David (Julie) Allsbrook, Jonathan Rivers, Kelly (Bill) Hartland, and Rebecca Rivers; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at Rose Cemetery.
